Macon Knights News Release

MACON, Ga. – The Macon Knights announced today that the team has traded quarterback Cecil Lester to the Columbus Wardogs in exchange for quarterback Tim Olmstead. In another move, the Knights were assigned Sterling Hayward and placed Brandon Pedraza on re-assignment.

Olmstead, a second-year arenafootball2 quarterback, spent the 2003 season with the Florida Firecats serving primarily as the backup to Ken Mastrole. Last season, Olmstead (6-2, 205, Vanderbilt) made one start against the Birmingham Steeldogs (5/3/03) completing 19-of-34 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns.

This season, Olmstead was on the Columbus Wardogs' roster, but did not see any action. Olmstead finished his collegiate career in 2002 at Vanderbilt University after transferring from the University of Florida. Olmstead served as a backup at both schools.

The Knights also added wide receiver/linebacker Sterling Hayward (6-0, 185, Appalachian State). Hayward, a rookie, finished his collegiate career at Appalachian State in 2003 with 69 receptions for 918 yards and four touchdowns in 34 games.

The Macon Knights – 2003 American Conference Champions – next home game is on Friday, June 4th vs. the Florida Firecats.
