(WORCESTER, MA) - The Charlotte Knights dropped the opening game of a six-game series against the Worcester Red Sox by a score of 5-0 from Polar Park in Worcester, MA on Tuesday night. The WooSox used two key home runs to power past the Knights in the opener.
LHP John Parke (2-6, 6.62) started for the Knights and was solid into the sixth inning. Parke, who was saddled with the loss, allowed three runs on six hits over 5.1 innings pitched. Parke gave up a solo home run to Jaylin Davis in the second inning, which gave the WooSox an early 2-0 lead. In the sixth, the WooSox knocked Parke out of the game with another home run. Left fielder Christin Stewart hit a two-run home run off of Parke to give the WooSox a 3-0 lead at that point.
Worcester added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning against Charlotte RHP Declan Cronin. A product of nearby Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, Cronin made his Triple-A debut on Tuesday and gave up two runs on three hits over one inning of work.

Tuesday's game lasted just two hours and 11 minutes.
