
Knights End Home Finale on a Sour Note

FORT MILL, S.C. - There was good news and bad news as the Charlotte Knights played their final home game of the 2009 season. The good: 11,131 fans came out to the Castle-the second largest crowd of the season. The bad: the Knights got swept by Durham in a 4-1 loss.
The Knights and Bulls were scoreless until the top of the 4th, when Durham jumped on Charlotte starter Wes Whisler (10-12, 4.01) for three runs. With the Bulls leading 1-0, Justin Ruggiano had and RBI double to center that scored Sean Rodriguez making it 2-0. Ray Olemedo followed with an RBI single to left giving the Bulls a 3-0 lead.
Charlotte's lone run came when Brady Shoemaker hit his first Triple-A home run in the bottom of the 8th.
Durham's Jeremy Hellickson (6-1, 2.51) picked up the win, while Winston Abreu (S, 15) got his 15th save of the season.
Charlotte will hit the road for the final three games of the 2009 season tomorrow at Gwinnett. Brandon Hynick (0-0, 0.00) will make his first start for the Knights. Gwinnett has not named a starter.
The Knights next home game will be April 15, 2010.
