Knights Defeat Division Leader Durham Bulls

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Knights used the longball to defeat the Durham Bulls 10-4 at Knights Stadium. Charlotte outfielder Jordan Danks led the charge hitting two home runs in the game.

The Knights broke open the scoring in the third inning when Danks hit a two-run homer down the left field line. With the Knights leading 2-1 in the 5th inning Danks struck again, this time hitting a massive home run to left center field.

Charlotte continued to torture Bulls starting pitcher Carlos Hernandez with a five-run 6th inning highlighted by a three RBI double from Stefan Gartrell. Later in the game Gartrell hit his 14th home run of the season, a towering shot to center field.

Knights starting pitcher Carlos Torres earned the win to improve to 7-5 on the season. Torres struck out seven Bulls hitters.

The Knights play their home stand finale against Durham tomorrow. LHP Heath Phillips (6-6, 4.13 ERA) will start for Durham and RHP Jeff Marquez (7-4, 4.02 ERA) will start for the Knights.
