Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks' divisional schedule gets tougher this weekend with two games in two nights. The two-game set begins with a home game against the East Division leading Buffalo Bandits and ends with a Sunday night showdown with the Minnesota Swarm.

Rochester (2-1) enters the week on a two-game winning streak after beating the Swarm 12-6 Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center. The win was the second in a row against an East Division opponent. Goalie Pat O'Toole was the star of the game for Rochester, combining with Grant Crawley to hold Minnesota scoreless for a record 31:37. The loss ended Minnesota's two-game winning streak and dropped the Swarm (2-2) one game out of first place.

The weekend begins with the Bandits rolling into town for an 8:05 p.m. contest at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. The game will be broadcast live on WB16. The contest will also be webcast on the B2 Networks. That evening, Rochester will honor one of its all-time greats on "Tim Soudan Night." The franchise will thank Tim for his 11-year K-Hawk career and his dedication to the sport and the city of Rochester. A special Tim Soudan ticket package is available, as fans can purchase two $22 seats for just $33.

The Bandits are one of two undefeated teams left in the 11-team National Lacrosse League. Buffalo is tied for first in the East with the Philadelphia Wings (3-1). The Bandits earned both wins against the defending NLL champion Toronto Rock. Last Saturday, Buffalo defeated the Rock, 13-10, by scoring six of the last nine goals. John Tavares led the way with seven points (2+5) to give him 1,064 career points, moving within 27 of the league's all-time leader, Gary Gait.

The Rochester Knighthawks have moved their jersey auction from Saturday, January 28th to Saturday, April 15th. All the proceeds from the event will benefit Continuing Developmental Services. The jerseys were produced locally by jerseyconnection.com.

The purple game-worn jerseys will be autographed by the individual player. The silent auction will take place in the upper atrium bar area. On April 15th, the Rochester Knighthawks will take on Toronto Rock at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial.

The team will also auction off a No. 27 Casey Zaph jersey to raise money to assist the Zaph family with medical and related family expenses. Zaph played defense for the Rochester Knighthawks from 1999-2005. The 30-year-old husband and father of two is recovering from bleeding on the brain. He was hospitalized on June 7th when he collapsed at his doctor's office after experiencing headaches. He is currently recovering at home with his family and beginning the long road back to recovery.

CDS is a non-profit organization (since 1977) that supports about 1,200 individuals in the community with developmental disabilities through four core businesses: residential, employment, creative opportunities and family supports.

Rochester ends the weekend with a 6:00 p.m. game in Saint Paul, Minnesota, against the Swarm. The contest on Sunday, January 29th will be webcast on the B2 Networks. The game is the second of three meetings between the two teams. The final installment is Saturday, April 8th in Rochester.
