Tyson Nash to Drop Ceremonial First Ball at Friday's Sting Game

GLENDALE, AZ --- The Arizona Sting announced today that the ceremonial ball drop at Friday night's game versus the Calgary Roughnecks will be performed by Phoenix Coyotes forward Tyson Nash.

Nash, a fan favorite at the Glendale Arena, is a big lacrosse fan and played the game as a young man in his home province of Alberta, Canada. As a member of the Coyotes, he currently has three assists and 52 penalty minutes in 24 games played in 2006. In 324 career NHL games, Nash has collected 27 goals and 31 assists for 58 points. He has also spent 589 minutes in the penalty box over the course of his career as a member of the Coyotes and the St. Louis Blues.

Friday night's game at the Glendale Arena is a rematch of last season's NLL West Division Final in which the Sting beat the Roughnecks by a score of 19-15 in Calgary. The two teams are currently battling for first place in the West Division. Game time on Friday is 7:30 PM; doors will open at 6:30 PM.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). In only their second season in Arizona (after relocating from Columbus, Ohio), the Sting finished the 2005 season with a 9-7 regular-season record prior to going on to win the West Division Championship before losing to the Toronto Rock in the Champion's Cup Final (NLL title game).
