Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Looking to add some offensive punch, the Colorado Mammoth signed free-agent Gewas Schindler on Tuesday.
Schindler, a powerful forward at 6-feet and 190 pounds, will add depth to the Mammoth's roster, giving the team a third left-handed scoring threat along with Dan Carey and Chris Gill.
The Mammoth released forward Steve Voituk in order to keep its roster at 23 players. Voituk, a rookie, had one goal in three games for the Mammoth this season.
Schindler, 29, is a veteran of six National Lacrosse League seasons and starred for the Columbus Landsharks-Arizona Sting franchise for three years. He tallied 81 goals and 91 assists in 45 games from 2002-2004, before being granted his release midway through the 2005 season.
"We're very excited about Gewas Schindler," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "He is a big, strong guy that is a proven performer and we feel that he will be a tremendous boost to our offense. He is thrilled about coming to Colorado and getting a chance to play for a new team and we're equally thrilled to see what he can do."
