Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The National Lacrosse League announced today that Rochester Knighthawks defenseman Mac Allen has been named a 2009 NLL Second Team All-Pro. Allen is the only representative of the Knighthawks to be named to the first or second team.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Allen completed his first season in Rochester, capturing career highs in all offensive categories in goals (two), assists (five), points (seven) and penalty minutes (50) in 11 games. The third-year pro also completed the 2009 campaign with 68 loose balls, good enough for sixth best on the team, along with a team high 97 faceoff wins (.548 winning percentage) on 177 attempts.
In 30 career NLL contests with Edmonton and Rochester, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound defenseman has registered three goals and nine assists for 12 points along with 74 PIM. In the summer, Allen plays for the Peterborough Lakers of the Ontario Lacrosse Association Major Series. Last season, he appeared in 17 games and had three goals and three assists for six points.
The Knighthawks recently concluded their 15th season in the NLL with a trip to the Champion's Cup Division Semifinals. The playoff berth was the team's 14th in franchise history. Rochester is a two-time league champion, winning titles in 1997 and 2007.
