Knighthawks Continue Homestand Against Red-Hot Wings

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks will try to avoid making history this Saturday as they host the Philadelphia Wings in a 2:05 p.m. game at The Blue Cross Arena. The Knighthawks enter the game 2-2 and on a two-game home losing streak and will try to avoid starting the season with three straight home losses for the first time in team history.

Fans can meet Knighthawks Hall of Famer and SU legend Paul Gait, former Knighthawks Mark Fietta and Jeremy Hollenbeck, and former Knighthawk and SU stars Matt Riter and Charlie Lockwood. The game is the first of two games at The Blue Cross Arena Saturday. The Rochester Americans will host the Toronto Marlies at 7:35 p.m. The Amerks are gunning for their fourth straight win. The ZOOperstars! will make their debut this Saturday in between periods of the Amerks game. Some names of interest who will be here Saturday include Clammy Sosa, Mario Lemule, Bobby Orrangutang, Peyton Manatee and the infamous Whale Gretzky, to name a few. The game also falls on the next installment of the Amerks Legends Series Nights, courtesy of the Seneca Gaming Corporation. Former Amerk and gold-medal winning U.S. National Sled Hockey coach Ray Maluta and former goaltender Jim "Seaweed" Pettie will be signing autographs from approximately 6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the upper atrium.

The first contest of the day features the Knighthawks, who are in the midst of a three-game homestand and are locked in a three-way tie for third place in the East Division. Rochester dropped its last game, 16-7, to the Boston Blazers last Saturday. Cody Jamieson led the 'Hawks with four goals to give him three straight games with three or more goals. He is second on the team with 15 points (12+3). The rookie is also tied for sixth in the league in goals. Shawn Williams leads the club with 21 points on five goals and 16 assists. Defensemen Scott Campbell and Rory Glaves made their NLL debuts last Saturday. Rochester owns the second best power play in the NLL, converting six of 13 attempts (46 percent).

On Saturday, February 5th, the K-Hawks will welcome to town the hottest team in the National Lacrosse League in the second place Philadelphia Wings (3-2). After starting the season 0-2, the Wings have strung together wins over Colorado, Boston and Colorado. The Knighthawks are 20-15 all-time against their longtime rivals. The game on Saturday is the first of three games against their divisional opponent.

Philadelphia won its last contest 12-11 over the Colorado Mammoth after leading 10-4 at halftime. Athan Iannucci led all Philadelphia scorers with his second straight six-point performance in two nights. Iannnucci is eighth in the NLL with 11 goals. The Mammoth scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter to cut the Wings lead to just two. The Wings goaltending was solid again as Brandon Miller turned aside 44 of 55 shots as Philadelphia was outshot by 17. Miller currently leads the NLL with an .825 save percentage and is second with an 8.80 goals-against average.

On Saturday, February 12th, Knighthawks Hall of Famer Randy Mearns will join Webster native and former Knighthawk Pat Dutton, former K-Hawk and Nazareth College star Jake Coon and former Knighthawk and Hobart star Bill Warder. The game is a 7:35 p.m. game against the Minnesota Swarm. Fans can "swarm" to The Blue Cross Arena on Cody Jamieson Bobblehead Night.
