Knak Scores at 2021 World Juniors
December 31, 2020 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Portland Winterhawks News Release
Winterhawks forward and Team Switzerland captain Simon Knak scored a late goal in Switzerland's 5-4 heartbreaking loss to Germany on Wednesday afternoon.
Following the game, Knak, a C-rated NHL prospect according to Central Scouting, was named one of Switzerland's best three players of the tournament. The Zurich, SUI native played well all week as the team's top forward and power play specialist, leading the Swiss with 15 shots on goal and averaging nearly 22 minutes of ice time per game. He was also named the player of the game against Canada earlier in the tournament.
Unfortunately, Switzerland lost all four of its round robin games in Group A and has been eliminated from the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. Eighteen-year-old captain Simon Knak is one of 13 Swiss players that will have an opportunity to play in the 2022 World Juniors next December.
