Kleven Pitches BlueClaws Past Shorebirds, 4-1

Salisbury, Md. - Lakewood starter Colin Kleven allowed just one unearned run in seven strong innings to lead the BlueClaws (13-22) to a 4-1 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds (17-19) on Monday night in front of 3,056 fans at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

Shorebirds starter Dylan Bundy allowed only two hits and an unearned run over five innings. He has not allowed an earned run in 25 innings this season.

The two teams traded unearned runs in the first inning. Gauntlett Eldemire scored on a passed ball by Gabriel Lino while Glynn Davis moved to third on a passed ball by Logan Moore and scored on a groundout by Nicky Delmonico.

David Baker replaced Bundy in the sixth inning. Eldemire reached on a bunt single. After a walk to Kelly Dugan, Maikel Franco singled home Eldemire. Then, Aaron Altherr hit a sacrifice fly to right field to lift Lakewood in front, 3-1.

In the seventh, Baker walked three batters to set up a sacrifice fly opportunity for Carlos Perdomo to stretch the lead to 4-1.

Kleven earned the win over seven innings. He fanned seven batters and issued three walks. Colton Murray came on in the eighth and tossed two scoreless innings. He struck out the side to end the game in the ninth.

Brenden Webb had three of the five total Shorebirds hits.

The Delmarva Shorebirds and Lakewood BlueClaws meet in game two of the series on Tuesday night at 7:05 pm. LHP Tim Berry is the scheduled starter for Delmarva. He will be countered by LHP Lino Martinez.
