Tourists Fight Miscues; Beat Drive 11-6

Monday night wasn't the prettiest game ever, but Asheville found a way to defeat Greenville 11-6 at Fluor Field. The Tourists jumped out to an early lead, which they never surrendered, and overcame a season high four errors to win their fourth straight.

Delta Cleary Jr. finished a double shy of the cycle and paced Asheville with three runs scored and three RBI's. Although Cleary Jr. came up short a two-bagger, the Tourists connected with six doubles on the evening. Dan Winkler (4-2, 6.31) went 5.1 innings en route to earning his fourth win of the year and once again the bullpen pitched well.

Cleary Jr. led off the game with a triple and Trevor Story immediately followed with another triple. Sam Mende was next and he doubled to score Story. Delta came up in the second inning and clubbed his first Home Run of the year, a two-run shot down the right field line.

The Drive scored the next three runs of the game, cutting Asheville's lead to 4-3. The game remained a one run contest until Asheville plated three in the seventh. Ryan Casteel doubled home Taylor Featherston and then scored on Cleary Jr.'s single to center. Delta later scored on a Drive error.

Greenville answered with three runs in their half of the seventh, but once again the Tourists responded. Asheville plated two more in the eighth when Casteel drew a walk with the bases loaded and Jared Simon scored on a wild pitch. Harold Riggins and Tyler Massey joined the parade in the ninth, each connecting with RBI base knocks.

Aside from Cleary's big day at the plate, Story and Riggins each had two extra-base hits and Featherston reached base four times. Greenville was led by Jose Garcia and Jose Vinicia who each tallied two hits.

The Tourists are now 14-3 on the road and 4-0 on their current road trip. Asheville has not lost this year in which they have led by more than one run at any point during a game.
