Kitchener Rangers Announce Hockey Operations Staff Changes for 2018-19

Kitchener Rangers general manager Mike McKenzie announced the following Hockey Operations staff roles for the upcoming 2018-19 season on Thursday.

Jay McKee will be returning as head coach, his third with the Club, while Dennis Wideman and Andreas Karlsson will also be returning as assistant coaches. Brandon Merli will be back as Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Kain Tisi will be returning in his role as Video and Goaltending Coach.

Michael Zsolt will remain Director of Analytics and Stats but will also add Hockey Operations Assistant to his title.

After moving to the role of Director of Hockey Operations in 2017-18, Murray Hiebert will stay on as a Senior Advisor and Scout this coming year.

Dan Lebold will return as Head Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager, and Barry Hoch will also be back as Assistant Equipment Manager.

The Rangers also welcome Cory Birk as the team's Athletic Therapist. Cory is a Certified Athletic Therapist as well as a Registered Physiotherapist. He graduated from York University with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology as well as a Certficate in Athletic Therapy. He then went on to graduate with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto.

Cory was the Athletic Therapist with the Listowel Cyclones of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) for nine seasons. He was a part of the Cyclones teams that won back to back Cherrey Cups in 2016-17 and 2017-18, as well as the teams first ever Sutherland Cup championship in 2017-18. Cory received the Ontario Hockey Association's (OHA) Trainer of the Year award in 2017-18. He also works as a physiotherapist at New Horizons Rehabilitation in Listowel, ON.
