North Little Rock, AR - George Kirby delivered a strong start and the offense backed him up with their best day of the young season in a 10-4 series opening win for the Arkansas Travelers over the Wichita Wind Surge in front of 6,671 at Dickey-Stephens Park. Kirby struck out five over five innings while allowing just one run. Offensively, Jake Scheiner reached base four times including three hits, Riley Unroe reached base four times with a home run and three walks and Tanner Kirwer had three hits including a double and a home run while driving in three. Jack Larsen also hit an early homer for the Travs.
Moments That Mattered
* Larsen opened the second inning a solo blast to right field. Later in the inning, Unroe walk, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and then scored on Tanner Kirwer's hit.
* Arkansas pushed the lead out to five by scoring four times in the fourth inning. Each of the first five batters of the inning reached including an RBI double from Kirwer and an RBI triple from Cade Marlowe.
