Kinston Indians News Release
Beau Mills hit a two-out, bases loaded double in the top of the eighth inning, breaking open a tie with Wilmington and sending Kinston to a 7-5 victory. With the score tied at four in the top of the eighth, Alex Castillo belted a two-out single. One batter later, a costly error by Wilmington shortstop Chris McConnell allowed Jason Denham to reach base and extend the inning. Johnny Drennen drew his fifth walk of the game to load the bases for Beau Mills. Mills hit a rocket to right center that one-hopped the wall, the ground rule double scoring Castillo and Denham. Mills went 1-for-3 with two RBI's for Kinston. Cirilo Cumberbatch went 3-for-4 for the K-Tribe, driving in two runs. Wilmington scored a run in the bottom of the eighth, but Neil Wagner pitched a perfect ninth inning to seal the win for Kinston.
Josh Tomlin pitched four solid innings of relief for the K-Tribe, giving up three hits and one earned run. Carlton Smith started for Kinston, giving up four earned runs in four innings. Henry Barrera took the loss for Wilmington.
The win snaps a three game skid for the Indians. The K-Tribe returns to Wilmington for game two of the three game series Tuesday night at 6:35pm. Jeanmar Gomez will take the hill for Kinston.
