
Kingsport Axmen Complete Two-Game Road Sweep over Bluefield Ridge Runners

Bluefield, VA- Kingsport (4-0) shut out Bluefield (0-4) by a final score of 4-0. Kingsport pitching threw seven innings, surrendered no runs, one hit, three walks and recorded 12 strikeouts. Every Ridge Runner batter struck out at least one time. Ian Riley singled in the second inning to score home
Bluefield, VA- Kingsport (4-0) shut out Bluefield (0-4) by a final score of 4-0.
Kingsport pitching threw seven innings, surrendered no runs, one hit, three walks and recorded 12 strikeouts. Every Ridge Runner batter struck out at least one time.
Ian Riley singled in the second inning to score home Jake Perry from third base. Riley entered the game 0-for-11 at the plate, but his first hit of the season ended up being the game-winner in Sunday's game.
No runs were scored from the third inning through the end of the sixth.
In the top of the seventh, Kingsport added three insurance runs. Jake Perry scored both his and Kingsport's second run of the game on an Aaron Casillas sacrifice fly, and Kevin Fernandez singled to score home Cole Hales to give Kingsport a 3-0 lead. The final run of the game came on a Mayes White base hit into left field that scored home Fernandez.
The Axmen outhit the Ridge Runners eight to one and RHP Sam Bryan recorded the win.
The Pulaski River Turtles visit the Kingsport Axmen tomorrow to begin a two-game series at Hunter Wright Stadium.
