Kings Sign Goaltender Peter Budaj to One-Year Contract Extension

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have signed goaltender Peter Budaj to a one-year contract extension, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

The 33-year-old Budaj (born on Aug. 18, 1982) is a 6-1, 192-pound native of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, has appeared in 43 regular-season games this year with Ontario (AHL), posting a record of 30-10-3 with a .934 SV%, a 1.60 GAA and 8 shutouts. This season Budaj leads the AHL in wins, goals against average, save percentage and shutouts.

A second-round (63rd overall) selection of the Colorado Avalanche at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Budaj appeared in one game this season with the Kings, posting the win, Feb. 12 at NYR. He has appeared in 297 career NHL games with Colorado, Montreal Canadiens and the Kings, posting a record of 125-107-36, with a .903 SV% and 2.76 GAA.

The Kings open up a five-game homestand tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. against the Montreal Canadiens. The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports West and KABC Radio 790.
