Stockton Heat News Release

San Jose, Calif. - Stockton Heat forward Hunter Shinkaruk scores his first goal in a Heat sweater since being acquired by the Calgary Flames, but unfortunately it was all the offense Stockton could muster in a 7-1 loss to the San Jose Barracuda at SAP Center Tuesday night. Shinkaruk's tally was his 22nd on the year, moving him into a tie for sixth in the AHL in goals. San Jose was led by Nikolay Goldobin and his two goal effort, as the Heat cannot earn their first win in San Jose this season. The Stockton Heat continue their road trip this weekend with a pair of games in San Diego against the Gulls.

QUOTES

"On the power play I got a nice pass from [Mason Raymond] down low. I turned with it and saw some room short side, so I just kind of scooped it in." - Hunter Shinkaruk on how he scored his first goal as a member of the Stockton Heat.

"It's a nice feeling. I want to be a goal scorer and that's what I'm here to do. The last few games I haven't been able to find one, so it was nice to get one tonight. It's what I'm expected to do and it was good to get that one under my belt." - Shinkaruk on his feelings after his goal.

"It was not a very good night for us period. We didn't play nearly hard enough 5-on-5 to even be in this game tonight and because of that, you see the end result. We didn't play the right way and we had too many individuals on the ice instead of sticking to the way we want to play, so it showed in the score." - Head Coach Ryan Huska on his overall thoughts of tonight's game.
