The Kalamazoo Kings defeated the Florence Freedom, 5-1, on Monday at Homer Stryker Field. Josh Beshears improved to 2-1 after pitching eight innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out six and walking two. Jake Brooks struck out two in one inning of relief. Justin McClain and Darren Uranga each had two hits. Pete Pirman had two RBIs. Kalamazoo and Florence play again Tuesday at 6:35 at Homer Stryker Field.
