LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with forward Brad Richardson, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Richardson, 26, recorded 19 points (7-12=19) and 47 penalty minutes in 68 regular season games with the Kings in 2010-11. He also appeared in all six postseason games with the Kings, tying a club high with five points (2-3=5) and leading the team with 17 shots.
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound native of Belleville, Ontario has 51 points (18-33=51) and 95 penalty minutes in 180 games with the Kings (2008-09 through 2010-11) after being acquired from Colorado on June 21, 2008 for a 2008 second-round draft pick. Among Richardson's Kings highlights is netting his first career hat trick on Oct. 23, 2010 at Colorado and being selected as the Kings nominee for the 2009-10 Bill Masterton Trophy (for his perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to the game). That season he accumulated career highs in points (27), assists (16) and games played (81).
In 316 career NHL regular season games (with the Kings and Avalanche) Richardson has 91 points (37-54=91) and 143 penalty minutes. In 21 career postseason games he has eight points (4-4=8) and 10 penalty minutes. He began his NHL career in 2005-06 with the Avalanche and was originally selected by Colorado in the fifth round (163rd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
In his American Hockey League career with the Monarchs, Richardson recorded a goal and two assists for three points (1-2=3) in three career games with Manchester during the 2008-09 season.
