Jonathan Cheechoo Joins Blues Organization

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has signed forward Jonathan Cheechoo to a one-year, two-way contract.

Cheechoo, 30, spent last season with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Worcester Sharks tallying 47 points (18 goals, 29 assists) in 55 games. The 6'1", 200-pound forward has also appeared in 501 National Hockey League (NHL) games over seven seasons between the San Jose Sharks and Ottawa Senators compiling 305 points (170 goals, 135 assists) along with 324 penalty minutes.

During the 2005-06 season, Cheechoo scored 56 goals in 82 games for the San Jose Sharks to win the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy for the league's top goal-scorer. He was named an NHL all-star the following season (2006-07) when he finished with 37 goals and 32 assists for 69 points.

The Moose Factory, Ontario native was originally drafted by San Jose in the second round, 29th overall, of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He made his professional debut in the AHL with the Kentucky Thoroughblades in the 2000-01 season and was to the AHL All-Rookie Team that season. Overall he has appeared in 217 AHL games and posted 180 points (82g, 98a).
