The Kenosha Kingfish out-dualed the Lakeshore Chinooks 6-3 at Historic Simmons Field on Sunday night.

With the win, the Kingfish have won their last two games in a row and three of their last five.

Kenosha got the scoring going with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third frame. Jay Beshears didn't take long to produce in his debut, as he sent Parker Stinson home on a bloop single to left. Ian Collier then kept his bat hot when he scored Taylor Darden on a sacrifice fly.

Lakeshore struck back in the top of the seventh courtesy of a Peyton Sanderson sacrifice fly that sent Jack Firestone home to make it a 2-1 ball game. The Kingfish promptly responded in the bottom half with a pair of runs. Stinson scored from second on a Darden bunt, and Ian Collier plated Darden after taking a pitch off of the shoulder. This made the game 4-1.

The Chinooks tacked on two more runs to make it 4-3 in the top of the eighth frame. John Bay sent Tony Livermore home on an RBI groundout, and Stephen Hrutisch did the same to score Matthias Haas. Kenosha got a pair of insurance runs in the bottom half to extend their lead to 6-3. Darden continued his phenomenal day at the plate with an RBI single that sent Drake Varnado trotting across home plate. Jacob Tobias then scored Darden on an RBI groundout.

Darden had the hottest bat of any Kingfish player, as he went 4-for-5 with a team-high two RBIs. Firestone went 1-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Lakeshore bats.

Jacob Gehring (4-1) stole the night and took the win on the mound, as he pitched six and two thirds of an inning of one-run ball while giving up three hits and striking out nine hitters. Gehring also went the first four innings without allowing a hit.

Joseph Whitman (0-1) took the loss despite a valiant effort, as he gave up two runs and six hits while striking out seven in six frames.

Kenosha will travel to Lakeshore for the final game of the season series in an attempt to salvage a 2-2 season split.

The first pitch will be at 6:35 p.m.
