
Rockers Fall to Rafters on the Road

Ashwaubenon, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers fell to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 9-6 Sunday night at Witter Field in the first of back-to-back matchups between the two teams.
The Rockers will now look for the series split against the Rafters Monday, which will then wrap up the first half of the season in 2022.
Wisconsin Rapids struck first on an RBI double in the bottom of the second, taking a 1-0 lead after the first two innings of play as Will Semb struck out all three batters in that inning as well.
The Rockers tied the game in the top of the third courtesy of a solo home run from Griffin Stevens, tying the score at one going into the bottom of the inning.
The Rafters responded with five runs in the bottom of the third, as they led 6-1 after the first three innings at Witter Field.
Bryce Crabb pitched a scoreless fourth inning and retired the Rafters in order, keeping the score at 6-1 through four innings of play.
Green Bay got one run back in the fifth on an RBI groundout from Collier Cranford, making it a 6-2, ballgame heading into the bottom of the fifth.
Crabb pitched his second scoreless inning in the fifth, picking off a runner at first to retire the side keeping it a 6-2 game approaching the sixth inning.
Tristin Garcia drove in the third run of the game for Green Bay in the top of the sixth on an RBI double, making the score 6-3 after five and a half innings of play.
A solo home run by the Rafters made it 7-3 going into the seventh, but the Rockers responded with an RBI double from Cranford, as the score remained 7-4 through seven innings.
In the eighth, the Rockers struck twice, scoring on an error and an RBI single from Collier Cranford, making it 7-6 going into the bottom of the eighth.
Wisconsin Rapids responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame, taking a 9-6 lead entering the ninth.
The Rockers did not score in the ninth, as the Rafters secured the home victory, winning by a score of 9-6.
Green Bay will square off against Wisconsin Rapids Monday to conclude the two-game series and the first half of the 2022 season at Capital Credit Union Park. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. with the pregame concert performed by Carbon Road starting at 11:05 a.m.
It is also Military Appreciation Day and free hot dog Monday at the ballpark with there being a Rockers American flag jersey auction and there being free hot dogs for the first 90 minutes after gates open.
