Duluth Huskies News Release
WATERLOO, Iowa. - The Huskies headed to Waterloo Iowa with a chance to clinch a spot in the 2022 Northwoods League playoffs, all they had to do was win.
Pat Miner was on the bump for the visiting Huskies, while Ernie Day got the start for the Bucks.
The scoring got started early for Waterloo. After back to back errors from Jonathan Vastine and Devin Hurdle, Ryan Guardino got his first RBI of the day with a single. After another run scored on a wild pitch, Jalen Martinez got two RBI's on a single.
The Huskies answered back in the third. With two on and no one out, Jon Vastine hit a monster two RBI triple, then Cam Frederick followed it up with an RBI single. Later in the inning, Eddy Rosario scored on an Ambren Voitik fielder's choice. At the end of the third, the game was tied 4-4.
Then everything fell off the rails for the Huskies in the fifth. The Bucks put up a five spot in the fifth, partially thanks to back to back home runs from Guardino and Critchett.
In the seventh, the Bucks batted around and then some. They scored six runs in the inning, with RBI's from Rantz, Cromer, Walton, and Guardino.
They added on one more in the eighth thanks to a Cameron Cromer single that brought in Jalen Martinez.
