Kingfish Sweep Woodchucks in Wausau

Wausau, Wis. - The Kingfish (25-45) picked up their first road series sweep of the year as they defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks 11-3 at Athletic Park.

The Kingfish scored four runs in the fourth inning, and continued to capitalize throughout the game. Sawyer Gieseke, Pat McInerney, and Pete Schuler all homered to help the Kingfish cruise to victory.

Cole Erickson took the mound and was fantastic. He threw 7.2 innings of action, and allowed just three runs off a lone Woodchuck home run. He did not walk a single batter, struck out nine, and picked up his third win of the year. Jesse Ellefson pitched the final 1.1 innings and allowed one run.

Sawyer Gieseke went 2 for 5 with a home run and 2 RBI. Pat McInerney went 2 for 4 with a solo shot, and Matt Kroon chipped in a 2 for 4 game with 2 RBIs.

The Kingfish will host the Woodchucks at home on Saturday at 6:05 CT, and then once again for the season finale on Sunday at 4:05 CT.
