Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Kenosha, Wis. -- The Kenosha Kingfish rolled into Kapco Park for their first road game of the year, but the result made the Kingfish look as though they were in mid season form. The Kingfish put together a nine to nothing shutout to silence any questions about the team's offensive capabilities following their series with St. Cloud.

Manager Duffy Dyer sent Andrew Zapata to the mound for the start and he answered the call with five and two thirds scoreless innings where he allowed only 5 hits and struck out 7 en route to his first win on the year. He worked himself into a couple of pitching jams but had the double play ball working when he needed it the most, forcing two which stranded runners in scoring position to end the frame.

Ryan Orr and Brett Shimanovsky each came into the game and delivered one and two thirds innings of solid pitching each to complete the shutout. Orr gave up a trio of hits but struck out three, while Shimanovsky notched a pair of K's of his own.

The offense was equally as impressive as the pitching. The Kingfish got out to a one to nothing lead as Jake Whiting hit an RBI single in the second frame to get the ball rolling.

The Kingfish would never look back.

Hunter Alexander singled home Filia in inning number three, then Sergakis and Whiting would go yard in frames five and six respectively. Kenosha would put the nail in the coffin with a five run ninth inning to seal the deal thanks to some timely hitting that would see Alex Borglin, Andrew Brahier, Jake Whiting, and Jack Sundberg all collect RBI's.

Eric Filia's hot season continued as he went 3/5 collecting his second consecutive hat trick, bringing his season average up to .500. Jake Whiting added three hits while Andrew Brahier and Nick Sergakis added a pair each. Every other Kingfish in the lineup left Kapco Park with a hit to their name.

The Kingfish will host Lakeshore tomorrow at Simmons Field with the first pitch coming at 7:05 PM CT.
