Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - The bats came alive for the Kingfish Friday night, as DH Eric Filia and 3B Hunter Alexander paced Kenosha to a 10-8 victory over the Lakeshore Chinooks at Simmons Field.
The Kingfish improved to 3-1 on the year, in large part due to their offense. The Kingfish had four extra base hits on the night, including two homeruns, one each from 2B Nick Sergakis and Alexander. Both players finished with three RBIs. Filia also added two doubles on the night to go along with one RBI.
Kenosha trailed 4-1 after the first inning, but the offense woke up for the Kingfish in the bottom of the third. CF Jack Sundberg led off the inning with a single. Two batters later, Filia doubled to right field. Alexander then brought both runners home after he hit a three-run home run over the Bambino party boat in left field.
In the fourth inning, the Kingfish were back at it again on the offensive side of the ball. LF Zach Weigel started off the inning with a ground rule double down the right field line. Sundberg later singled him home. Sergakis then followed with a two-run home run, his second on the year. The Kingfish added two more runs in the sixth inning after a sacrifice fly by Sergakis and one in the eighth after a sac fly by RF Nick Lodden brought home Weigel.
The Chinooks also had some success on the offensive side of the ball. CF and leadoff hitter Drake Parker went 4-4 with two runs, along with a spectacular diving catch in centerfield in the seventh inning. LF Jake Romano went 2-4 with three RBIs and one run.
Anthony Olson was on the mound for Kenosha and ended up picking up the victory. The Kenosha native went six plus innings, striking out five along the way. RHP Trevor Haas pitched three innings of three hit ball to pick up the save for the Kingfish. Haas and LHP Brett Shimnovasky both have one save on the year for the Kingfish.
Chinooks's starter Brian Keller took the loss for the visiting team. He went four innings and allowed seven runs on ten hits. Sam Burum pitched four innings of relief for Lakeshore.
Saturday the Kingfish host the Battle Creek Bombers at 6:05 p.m., with postgame Miller Lite fireworks immediately following the game. On Sunday, the Kingfish host Battle Creek at 1:05 p.m. There will be a FLOW Parkour appearance during the game and a Petting Zoo sponsored by Jerry Smith Pumpkin Farm will also be at Simmons Field.
