Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Kenosha, Wis. - Behind the strong arm of Josh Serio and the steaming bat of Eric Filia, the Kingfish beat the St. Cloud Rox 4-2 at Simmons Field Wednesday night.

Serio was rock solid on the mound for the Kingfish and picked up the victory. He threw six innings and only allowed one run on three hits. The right-handed pitcher and Greenfield, Wisconsin native also had six strikeouts on the night.

Manager Duffy Dyer made the lineup change to switch Filia from the leadoff spot to the three hole and it sure did pay off. Filia jumpstarted the Kingfish offense, going 3-4 with two RBIs. The Kenosha left fielder had the biggest hit on the night, tripling home two runs in the sixth inning to help the Kingfish take a 3-2 lead.

Second baseman Nick Sergakis continued his hot start to the season, singling home speedy centerfielder Nick Sundberg in the eighth inning for an insurance run. Parker Sniatynski also added an RBI single in the fourth to get the Kingfish on the board. The right fielder Sniatynski also threw out a runner at second base in the sixth inning, and that was met with a strong roar of approval by the 1,852 faithful Kenosha fans in attendance at Simmons Field.

The Kingfish bullpen was stellar in relief of Serio. Brendon Allen pitched two innings to earn the hold and Brett Shimanovsky came on in the ninth and struck out one to notch the save for the Kingfish.

The Rox were led by Austin Athmann, who went 2-4 on the night. Starting pitcher Andrew Sykes threw three and two thirds innings for St. Cloud. Chris Farish took the loss for the Rox.
