Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Mequon, Wis. - It was a seesaw affair right from the beginning. In the end, the seesaw tipped the way of the Kingfish, and they defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks by a final score of 8-7.
The Lakeshore Chinooks got the show on the road by plating two runs in the first inning. They came back with another two in the third before the Kingfish relieved starter Mario Samuel. After that, it was time for the Kingfish to get things going.
The Kingfish sent eleven batters to the dish in the sixth frame and plated five runs. Alex Dunlap brought home one run via a sacrifice fly, then Pat McInerney picked up two more with a single. With the bases loaded, Zack Weigel was hit by a pitch, which tied the game, then Alex Borglin walked to bring home another run and push the Kingfish ahead.
The Chinooks would not go away, however, as two Chinooks crossed the plate in the seventh, giving them a 6-5 advantage. J.R. Holloway surrendered one more in the eighth to make the score 7-5.
The Kingfish, however, would come back. Alex Borglin scored via an Eric Filia sacrifice fly to make the score 7-6. Grayson Byrd, with the bases loaded and two down, gave the Kingfish the lead with an RBI single to left, making the score 8-7. J.D. Nielsen would keep the score right there in the ninth to cement the come from behind victory.
Grayson Byrd paced Kingfish hitters with three hits, and Jeremy Vasquez tacked on two hits of his own as the Kingfish defeated the Chinooks for the seventh time in as many attempts. The Kingfish will travel on the road tomorrow to Madison to take on the Mallards tomorrow evening.
