Battle Creek, MI.- For the second consecutive game, the Bullfrogs plated the go-ahead runs in the ninth inning to beat the Battle Creek Bombers (14-29/1-7), this time by a tally of 10-9. Green Bay (27-16/5-3) battled through a situation in which they had to use their bullpen for 8 2/3 IP of the contest, to win their third straight game.

Luke Syens (Valparaiso) was bounced after 1/3 of an inning after he walked five, hit a batter, and faced only seven giving way to Parker Hamilton (Florida Gulf Coast) who went the next 3 2/3 IP (2ER/4H/1K-3BB).

The Bombers scored four runs in the first after Christian Helsel (Penn State) was hit by a pitch to force in the first run, and the next three runs passed through on free passes issued to Brennon Lund (BYU), Blake Swann (Florida Southern), and Michael Sanderson (Cal Poly).

Green Bay would make it a 4-1 Battle Creek lead after an RBI groundout from Mikey Duarte (UC-Irvine) in the third. But the tally was answered with a 2-out Bombers rally in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by an RBI single from Hank Truluck (Florida State). It was 5-1 Battle Creek through 3 completed innings.

The top of the fourth was when the Bullfrogs put up a seven spot, with 12 batters up to the plate, taking advantage of five walks in the inning alone. Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) walked in the first run, and Matt De La Rosa (Lenoir Rhyne) lifted a sacrifice fly to center for the second.

The inning continued when Mikey Duarte reached on an error by pitcher Nick Mederios (Santa Clara) on a throw he failed to catch from first baseman Chris Helsel, and two runs scored. Robb Paller (Columbia) made the Bombers pay even more as he dished out a 2-RBI base hit along with another run after a single from Brian Celsi (California).

After Battle Creek got one run in the fourth on another Brennon Lund RBI, the Bullfrogs pumped through a score on the third RBI from Paller. The Bombers tied the game up against the Bullfrogs Matt McCarthy (LHP/Penn State), as a tough at-bat from Brennon Lund ended in a bases loaded walk, Swann managed a sacrifice fly, and Casey Bredlau (Austin Peay) tied the game at 9-9 with an RBI single.

Two scoreless frames tossed by Chad Dullnig (Ranger College) kept the contest at nines in innings 7-8 until the Bullfrogs ninth inning stamina paid off again.

With two outs, De La Rosa walked and Caleb Ratzman (Illinois State) entered as the pinch runner, stealing second, then third for his league leading 28th, and 29th swiped bags this summer. Ratzman on third, and with Mason George (Texas- San Antonio) on first from a walk, Battle Creek pitcher, Evan Dunn (RHP/Pepperdine), committed a balk on a first-to-third move that scored Ratzman to give Green Bay a 10-9 advantage.

Jake Stolley came in for the bottom of the ninth and left a runner on third forcing a final groundout to short stop from the Bombers most proficient hitter, Dan Swain (Siena).

Green Bay finishes 8-0 against Battle Creek this season, and finished off their sixth sweep of the season. Evan Dullnig received the win (1-1/0.00ERA), Evan Dunn the loss (1-3/2.77), and Jake Stolley the save (2 SV/1.00ERA).

The Bullfrogs host the Kalamazoo Growlers next at home Wednesday, for a first pitch at Joannes Stadium of 7:05PM CST.
