Kim Little Voted Army National Guard Player of the Month

SEATTLE (August 4, 2014) - Seattle Reign FC midfielder Kim Little was voted the Army National Guard Player of the Month by the media for the month of July of the 2014 NWSL season.

This is the third time this season that the Scottish international has been voted Player of the Month. The midfielder became the first player in NWSL history to earn the award on multiple occasions, as well as in back-to-back months, for her performances in April and May.

FC Kansas City goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart, who was named Player of the Month for June, is the only player other than Little to claim the honor this season.

Little, 24, not only appeared in all six Reign FC matches in July, but tallied four goals and four assists to help Seattle to a 4-1-1 record during the month as Seattle clinched the 2014 NWSL Shield, awarded to the team with the best regular-season record.

Reign FC secured the silverware on July 30 after a 4-1 road victory over the Houston Dash at BBVA Compass Stadium in which Little registered two goals and an assist.

The goals for the Aberdeen, Scotland native were her 13th and 14th of the season - which broke the NWSL single-season scoring record of 12 previously held by FC Kansas City midfielder Lauren Holiday. In addition to leading the league in scoring, Little is tied for second with six assists - one behind Holiday.

"Kim has consistently proven over the season her quality," said head coach and general manager Laura Harvey. "We hope this continues into the post season."

Seattle Reign FC return to action Wednesday, August 6 when they host the Houston Dash for the first match of a two-game home-stand at the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. (PT) with a live, high-definition webstream available at YouTube.com/NWSL.

The Army National Guard Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
