Killer Bees Snap Streak in Overtime, Win 4-3

LAREDO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (9-12-3) snapped their four-game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime victory against arch-rival Laredo Bucks (9-10-4) on Tuesday night. The game winning goal was scored in the extra frame by Tomas Klempa after a Darcy Campbell shot left an empty net rebound opportunity. Sean Muncy picked up the second assist, his third of the game.

For the Killer Bees it was their second overtime victory of the season at the Laredo Energy Arena against the Bucks with the first coming October 23.

The Killer Bees scored the first goal just 4:25 in the game as Zak McClellan scored his second goal in as many games. Aaron Lee found an open McClellan in front and McClellan beat Laredo netminder Pier Pelletier.

Laredo tied the game with a power-play goal at 16:07 on their third man-advantage of the period. Dan Koger took a shot from the far side hash marks that was turned away by Pagliero but Neil Trimm was able to one touch the rebound past Pagliero.

In the second period Laredo was able to gain a two-goal advantage after Darryl Smith and Jarred Mohr both found the back of the net however the Bees would battle back and tie the game before the horn to end the second period would sound.

The Killer Bees cut the lead to one when Darcy Campbell scored his ninth goal of the season on the power-play. Campbell ripped a shot from the top of the blocker-side circle that beat the screened Pelletier.

Brett Wilson would tie the game at three at the 16:59 marker after a breakaway from the blue line. Tomas Klempa took a pass from Brandon Smith and one-touched it to Wilson who beat Pelletier five-hole.

The two teams would skate to a scoreless third period with both goalies turning away multiple chances.

The Killer Bees would claim victory in overtime as Tomas Klempa potted his tenth of the season to give the Bees there second OT win at the Laredo Energy Arena of the season. The goal was scored at the 3:36 mark of the OT.

The Killer Bees are back in action on Thursday evening facing Berry Conference leading Bossier-Shreveport at the CenturyTel Center, game time at 6:35 p.m.
