TONIGHT'S GAME

The Bees and Bucks face off for the first time this season. Rio is coming off a 5-2 win over Corpus Christi last night, while Laredo fell 5-2 at Bossier-Shreveport on Thursday.

Rio went 3-for-9 on the power play and picked up two man-advantage goals from veteran Bill Newson. Newson ended the night with four points (2-2-4).

The Bees opened the scoring with Jamie Lovell's first goal of the season at 7:27 in the first. The Rayz answered quickly on Justin Quenneville's power play tally at 9:13, but Jason Cirone and Matt Reynolds each added goals to give the Bees a 3-1 lead at the end of the first stanza.

Ryan Carter's goal at 11:39 in the second pulled the Rayz within one, but Newson's power play markers and strong play by goaltender Matheiu Blanchard sealed the deal for the Bees. Blanchard stopped 26 shots on goal for his second professional win.
