Killer Bees Fall to Thunder in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan.- The Killer Bees scored first but the Wichita Thunder rallied to take and hold the lead from the Bees in the second period. The Killer Bees were lead by Tomas Klempa who scored two goals against his former team. Dan Rosen made 33 saves in his debut for the Bees.

The Killer Bees wasted no time getting on the board as former Thunder Tomas Klempa netted a pair of goals in the first seven minutes of the game. The first strike, at 2:37 of the first, was power-play goal on a 5-on-3 as the Bees power-play continues to improve. The Bees have also scored the first goal in five of their six games this season.

Just four minutes later Klempa struck again finding the back of the net off a beautiful pass from Sean Muncy. Darcy Campbell earned the second assist. Klempa continues to pace the Killer Bees with nine points in his first six games for RGV.

The Thunder would cut the Killer Bees lead in half as Tory Schwab was able to beat netminder Dan Rosen, who was making his Killer Bees debut. Rosen made eight saves in his first period as a Bee including many beautiful post-to-post pad saves.

The Wichita Thunder came out of the locker room and stormed out for a pair of quick goals to take a 3-2 lead less than two minutes into the period. Before the 10:00 minute mark could pass the Thunder advanced their lead to 4-2 as Lance Galbraith found the back of the net.

The Killer Bees would start their comeback making it a one-goal game at 15:38 of the third as Aaron Lewicki scored his first goal as a Killer Bees in just his second game, thanks to a nice pass from Tyler Burton. Aaron Lee also picked up an assist on the goal.

The Killer Bees would spend the third period trying to get the equalizer but were unable to get one past Marty Magers before the final horn expired and ended up falling 4-3.

The Killer Bees are back in action on Saturday night as they travel to Mississippi to face the RiverKings, puck drops at 7:05.
