
Kiesha Brown Returns to Mystics Roster

Washington, D.C. -General Manager Angela Taylor announced today that the Washington Mystics have added 5'10 guard Kiesha Brown to its roster. Brown spent the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks. She started her WNBA career in Washington, and was with the Mystics from 2002-2005. She has had stints with the New York Liberty, Houston Comets and the Minnesota Lynx.
"We are thrilled to bring Kiesha back to DC. Kiesha is the consummate professional and will bring some additional veteran leadership to our team," said Taylor. "She gained invaluable playoff experience last season with the Los Angeles Sparks, which will be beneficial as we look to build a team that will compete for the Eastern Conference Championship on a regular basis."
Brown was signed as a free agent by the Mystics in 2002. During the last two seasons with the Sparks, she averaged 4.9 points per game and 1.96 assists per game. She started 17 games for the Sparks in 2008 and was instrumental to the team during its post season run.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, Brown was the 1996 Naismith Player of the Year from Woodward Academy. She was the 1995 and 1996 Gatorade Player of the Year. Brown was named Ms. Georgia Basketball in 1995 and 1996.
The Washington Mystics will tip off the 2009 season on Saturday, June 6, on the road against the Connecticut Sun. Washington will host the club's home opener on Sunday, June 7, against the Atlanta Dream.
