KIELY DOMINANT AS QUAKES SNAP STREAK

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA - Tim Kiely tossed seven dominant innings, Efren Navarro hit a three-run homer and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes snapped a five-game losing streak with a 8-2 win over the Inland Empire 66ers Thursday night at the Epicenter.

Kiely (1-0) consistently found the strike zone, throwing a first pitch strike to the first 16 batters he faced. The right-hander didn't allow a hit until Steve Caseras singled to right with one out in the fifth inning. He ended his evening with a strikeout of Christian Lara after limiting Inland Empire to three hits and no walks while striking out eight in seven shutout innings.

With the Quakes leading 1-0 in the fourth, Navarro launched a deep three-run blast over the fence in right for his first home run of the year extend Rancho Cucamonga's lead to 4-0.

The Quakes added three runs in the sixth on RBI hits from P.J. Phillips and Clay Fuller before Lara's error at shortstop allowed Phillips to score.

Preston Mattingly provided the only offense of the night for the 66ers, hitting a two-run shot in the eighth for his first homer of the season.

Steve Johnson pitched well until Navarro's home run, limiting the Quakes to four runs on four hits in four innings of work. The right-hander struck out seven and walked two.

Caseras went 2-for-4 with a double as the only 66er to record a multi-hit game.

The series continues at 7:35 p.m. Friday with RHP Chris Withrow (1-0, 0.00) on the hill for Inland Empire while the Quakes will start LHP Robert Fish (0-1, 6.75). The 66ers will return to Arrowhead Credit Union Park on Monday, April 20 to face the JetHawks at 7:05 PM.
