Traverse City, MI, May 30, 2006: The team may be on the road a lot the next couple of weeks but that does not mean Suntan, the mascot of the Traverse City Beach Bums will be taking any time off. The lovable bear will be busy the next three weeks delivering prizes to elementary schools across the Grand Traverse Area that participated in Suntan's Dreaming of Spring Reading Club, sponsored by Traverse City State Bank.
Sixteen elementary schools participated in the reading incentive program with more than 3,500 students receiving posters to help them keep track of the books they read over the course of the school year. Students advanced one base for every five books read. Students who hit a home run by completing 20 or more books will receive a FREE ticket to a Beach Bums game on their school's designated night. The first Reading Club Night on Monday, June 5th, will recognize the super readers from Blair Elementary School with more Reading Club Nights scheduled for every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night game throughout the season.

Thursday, June 1 - St. Mary's - Hannah - 11:00 a.m.
Thursday, June 1 - Eastern Elementary - 2:00 p.m.
Monday, June 5 - Traverse Heights - 8:10 a.m.
Monday, June 5 - Kingsley Elementary - 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, June 6 - Holy Angels Elementary - 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, June 7 - Mancelona Elementary - 10:30 a.m.
Thursday, June 8 - Lake Ann Elementary - 9:30 a.m.
Monday, June 12 - Cherry Knoll Elementary - 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday, June 13 - Courtade Elementary - 8:15 a.m.
