The hills will be alive with the sound of music.
The Appalachian foothills of southern Ohio, and specifically Ross County, that is.
V.A. Memorial Stadium, the home of the Chillicothe Paints Professional Baseball Team, will be the site of a gigantic concert on Friday, June 23, featuring two of the biggest names in country and bluegrass music, Ricky Skaggs and Rhonda Vincent.
Skaggs, affectionately known, as the "Ambassador of Bluegrass Music", has been entertaining people across the world for over 30 years. He is a 10-time Grammy award winner. He has also garnered eight awards from the Country Music Association (CMA), including "Entertainer of the Year" in 1985.
Renowned guitarist and producer, Chet Atkins, credited Skaggs with "single-handedly" saving country music.
Vincent has won "Female Vocalist of the Year" for six consecutive years at the IBMA awards. The Wall Street Journal dubbed Rhonda, "The new Queen of Bluegrass".
She has performed over 100 times on the stage of the world famous Grand Ole Opry. Other career highlights for Vincent include; appeared on the cover of Billboard Magazine; recorded harmony vocals with Dolly Parton, Alan Jackson, George Jones, Martina McBride, Faith Hill and many more.
Showtime is set for 7:30 p.m. and the gates will open at 5:00 p.m. The format will be festival seating with stadium seats or lawn seating available. Fans can bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Tickets are $20.00 in advance and can be purchased at the Paints' Gift Shop, located at 59 N. Paint St. in downtown Chillicothe. You can also purchase tickets by calling (740) 773-TEAM (8326) or on the web at www.chillicothepaints.com. Visa and MasterCard orders will be accepted.
Tickets at the gate will be $25.00.
