FREDERICK, MD - Scoring a season-high 12 runs on 16 hits, the Frederick Keys surged past the Wilmington Blue Rocks 12-8 in front of 6,094 fans at Harry Grove Stadium.

The win concluded a three-game series which saw both teams score a combined 53 runs on 84 hits and 33 walks.

The win pushes the Keys record to 6-7 in the second half of the season and 33-50 overall.

The Keys trailed in the game three times before scoring six unanswered runs late in the game to turn a 7-6 deficit into a 12-7 advantage, enough to hold on for the win.

The Keys trailed by deficits of 4-0, 6-4, and 7-6 before eventually taking control of the game in the sixth inning with their six unanswered runs.

Finding themselves trailing 4-0 early, the Keys tied the game at four with a Steve Bumbry two-run homerun in the fourth.

Yet Wilmington wasted no time in getting the lead right back, as Jose Bonilla hit a two-run homerun in the next frame to jump back up 6-4.

Staying true to form in the very high scoring series, the Keys tied it back up at six with an Aaron Baker two-run homerun in their very next at-bat.

Wilmington, then in their next at-bat, would score again, retaking the lead at 7-6 when Orlande Calixte brought in a run with a sacrifice fly that gave his team the lead for the third different time in the night.

Yet that's when the Keys got on a roll, scoring six unanswered runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.

The surge started after Garabez Rosa and Johnny Ruettiger singled to get on base. A single from Trent Mummey tied the score at seven, but it was an error on a slow groundball through the legs of Angel Franco that allowed the Keys to take their first lead at 8-7.

In the next two frames, the Keys poured it on, scoring four more times to successfully put the game out of reach for Wilmington.

The Keys are back in action July 4th at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, Virginia as star prospect Dylan Bundy (4-2, 3.14 ERA) takes the mound against Potomac's Nathan Karns (3-2, 2.57 ERA).
