Key Showdown in the 'Dome Tonight

The Regina Pats (14-26-3-2) entertain their Highway #11 rivals, the Saskatoon Blades (6-29-6) tonight at 6:00 in the Agridome. Tonight is game six of the 8-game season series between the two teams and the Pats are 1-1-2 against Saskatoon so far this year. The Pats enter the night with a 13-point lead on the Blades for the final playoff spot, and are five points behind Brandon for third-place in the East Division. The Pats are coming off a 1-1 tie versus Kamloops Friday night, the first of a 3-game homestand. Dustin Slade made 39 saves in the Pats net in his Regina debut, and was named the game's first star. Jon Bubnick scored his 11th goal of the season for Regina in the game. 4,524 fans took in the game, which was one of the most entertaining contests in the 'Dome this year.

PATS NOTES: Regina is 9-7-1-1 on home-ice, and 1-8-1 in their past 10 games. Rick Rypien continues to be the team's leading scorer (14-17-31) followed by Dan Waschuk (14-14-28) and Lance Morrison (9-17-26). Rypien continues to lead the team in PM with 119. Regina is 2-12-2 versus the East Division this year.

BLADES NOTES: Saskatoon is 2-13-2 on the road, and 1-7-2 in their past 10 games. Tonight they're hoping to snap a 4-game losing skid. Last night, they fell 6-0 to the Wheat Kings in Brandon as Josh Harding got the shutout for the Wheaties making 17 saves. Ryan Cyr faced 35 shots in the Blades' net. Mike Green is the Blades' leading scorer (12-20-32) followed by Trent Adamus (11-13-24) and Ryan Keller (12-11-23). Tanner Schultz is their penalty-minute leader with 183. After tonight, the Blades host Brandon on Wednesday. The Blades and Pats meet again one week from today at Saskatchewan Place.

QUOTABLE: "From what I've seen from Dustin Slade so far, and that only includes one practice and Friday's game, I don't think he'd be satisfied with 39 saves against Kamloops. I think he's probably mad at himself for letting in that one goal. He's a competitor." - Pats' Assistant Coach Chad Mercier.

SPECIAL TEAMS: The Pats have the WHL's 16th-ranked powerplay (14.3%) and the 19th penalty-kill (77.3%)... The Blades have the WHL's 17th powerplay (14.3%) and 20th penalty-kill (76.2%).

NOTABLE: The Regina Pats announced Saturday that forward Brent Hill has joined the team from the St. Cloud State Huskies of the NCAA. Hill, a 5' 9", 195 lb forward from Slave Lake, Alberta had 98 points, including 34 goals, in 63 games with the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL last season. The nineteen year old forward was in his first season at St. Cloud State in St.Cloud, MN.
