Key Dates in 2019-2020
On June 11th, the Ontario Hockey League announced the schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season. As the months of summer approach and the supply of games is sparse, hockey fans are given something to look forward to. The Knights have wasted no time preparing for another run at the Memorial Cup by strengthening their roster with new additions. They recently signed their 2019 second round selections, defenseman Logan Mailloux, and forward Max McCue, to OHL Standard Player's Agreements.
The regular season kicks off in London on September 20th with a matchup versus the Peterborough Petes. This will be one of two times the teams will face off, the other taking place at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on December 5th.
On November 8th, Budweiser Gardens will host the North Bay Battalion. With Remembrance Day on the 11th, the club will pay tribute to the Canadian men women who fought for our freedom.
The annual Teddy Bear Toss game will take place on December 6th against the Owen Sound Attack. Stuffed animals will be collected for the Salvation Army following the Knights' first goal.
The New Years home-and-home matchup versus our rivals down the 401, the Sarnia Sting, is always an entertaining one. This year the Knights will host the New Year's Eve game at 4pm. The Sting are projected to be a much-improved team, with a healthy Jamieson Rees and the arrival of Benjamin Gaudreau. The 6'2" goaltender was selected 7th overall by the Sting in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, the highest a netminder has been drafted since 2002.
The Knights will go head to head with the Guelph Storm, six times throughout the season. Notably, they will play each other 3 times in 15 days, on February 11 in London, the 21st in Guelph and the 26th in London. Both teams will inevitably lose players from the teams that faced off in April, and the Knights will be eager to get revenge against the team that knocked them out of the playoffs.
The season will wrap up in March with a home game against the Owen Sound Attack on Friday the 20th, followed by a final trip down to the Progressive Auto Sales Arena to face the Sarnia Sting.
