Wichita Thunder News Release
Tulsa, OK- Kale Kessey recorded a hat trick and Colin Stevens stopped all 23 shots he faced as Wichita lost in Tulsa on Sunday afternoon by the final of 5-0 at the BOK Center.
Tulsa struck twice in the first period. Kale Kessey scored just six minutes in as he fired a wrist shot from the right circle past Matt O'Connor. Darcy Murphy made it 2-0 at 18:35 as his shot along the goal line got through O'Connor's legs.
The Oilers added two more in the second as Danick Paquette found the net at 1:45 to make it 3-0. Kessey added his second of the game at 11:28 on the power play as he put home a rebound. That would be it for Matt O'Connor as he was pulled and Scott Greenham came on in relief.
Kessey increased the lead to 5-0 with a shorthanded goal at 12:18 of the third as he came down the right wing on his off-side and snapped a shot past Greenham.
O'Connor suffered the loss, stopping 17 of 21 shots. Stevens grabbed his first shutout of the season and his third of his career.
Wichita went 0-for-5 on the power play. Tulsa was 1-for-5 on the man advantage.
The Thunder heads to Ohio on Wednesday night to face the Cincinnati Cyclones at 6:35 p.m. CST.
Individual tickets for all Thunder home games are now on sale. Tickets can be purchased at the INTRUST Arena Box office, by calling 855-755-SEAT or go online at www.selectaseat.com.
