Tulsa Oilers News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - The Tulsa Oilers overtime curse has finally been lifted. Losers in their last eight games decided in overtime, the Oilers got a commanding performance in goal by Ian Keserich and a game-winning goal by David Alexandre Beauregard to secure a 1-0 Central Hockey League victory on Saturday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

In a penalty filled game, Keserich, and Brahmas goalie Brad Fogal, stole the show. The pair of netminders traded sensational stops in the second period and showed no signs of flinching through a scoreless sixty minutes of action.

Despite a wealth of opportunities, neither powerplay could get on track. The Oilers went 0-for-9 with the man-advantage while the Brahmas failed to capitalize on five powerplay chances.

With just over five minutes remaining in the third, Oilers center Mike Ullrich was assessed a boarding major and a game misconduct. The Oilers were forced to spend the last quarter of the final frame on the penalty kill. Keserich made key stops and the Oilers were able to keep the Brahmas away from the front of the net to endure the longest penalty kill of the season.

Shortly after another unsuccessful Tulsa powerplay in overtime, Michel Beausoleil swept a pass in front of Fogal to a waiting Beauregard. The 36-year old forward tucked the puck inside the post to earn two points for the Oilers and silence the raucous Fort Worth crowd.

Keserich, who made 16 saves, earned his third win of the season and his first shutout. Tulsa outshot Fort Worth 29-16 and split the weekend series with the Brahmas. The Oilers return home Sunday for a 4:05 p.m. start against the Missouri Mavericks.
