MOLINE, Ill. - Scotty Howes scored what proved to be the game winning goal early in the third period as the Allen Americans rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the host Quad City Mallards 3-2 Saturday night.

The Americans were on the power play when Howes scored in a goalmouth scramble to snap a 2-2 deadlock at 1:59 of the third. Allen's comeback started with a pair of second period goals. Kip Brennan shoveled in a rebound at 9:38 of the second to get the Americans on the scoreboard for the first time. Trevor Ludwig's blast from the right wing circle evened the score at 14:23.

The Americans found themselves in need of a rally after the Mallards' Obi Aduba tipped in the opening goal of the evening at 12:53 of the first period and Quad City's lead stretched to two when Jeremy Boyer buried a rebound at 6:45 of the second.

Today also saw the Mallards announce that they will play the Bloomington Blaze in Bloomington on Sunday, November 25 at 4:05 p.m., a game that replaces the Mallards' postponed season opener on the team's schedule.

The Mallards were originally scheduled to open the campaign on October 19 on the road against the Wichita Thunder. The team originally slated to visit the Blaze on November 25, the Tulsa Oilers, replaced the Mallards in the October 19 game.

The Mallards are next in action next Friday night when they visit the Wichita Thunder. The Mallards next play on home ice on Sunday, November 18 at 4:05 p.m. against the Rapid City Rush.
