JUPITER, Fla. - Jimmy Kerrigan blasted a home run in the second inning to lift the Miracle over the Jupiter Hammerheads, 1-0, in game one of their doubleheader on Tuesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Game two was postponed due to rain and will be made up Wednesday night.

Kerrigan's home run, his fourth with the Miracle, came with one out in the second.

Sean Poppen (1-2) tossed five strong innings to earn his first win. He allowed four hits, walked two, and struck out five. Andrew Vasquez picked up his third save of the season, recording the final six outs and striking out two.

Jorge Guzman (0-1) suffered the loss for Jupiter. He allowed one run in five innings, walked four, and struck out one.

Jupiter loaded the bases with two out in the second, but stranded all three runners. The Hammerheads had the tying run on second with one out in the seventh, but Vasquez retired the top two hitters in the order (Brian Miller and Riley Mahan) to seal the win for the Miracle.

Mark Contreras finished 1-for-3 with a double. Taylor Grzelakowski went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Joe Cronin and Brandon Lopez each drew two walks.

The teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Game one will begin at 5:00 p.m.
