(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import defensive lineman Keron Williams has signed a contract extension keeping him in orange through the 2013 season.

"Keron is a valuable member of our defensive unit and demonstrated the ability to be equally effective at both the tackle and rush end positions," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. "He is a leader who brought both experience and stability to our team last season and I expect him to perform at a high level in years to come."

Keron joined the club as a free agent signing in 2010 and appeared in 16 regular season games. He had four of his five sacks over the course of the final 10 games last season and recorded a career-high 40 tackles in 2010 as he became a force during the team's playoff run. He added four tackles and three sacks in the West Semi-Final at Saskatchewan.

"I am very pleased to extend my contract with the Lions," said Williams. "We showed last season that we have a lot of guys willing to do whatever it takes to win and I am excited to be part of a team poised to achieve some great things."
