Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have partnered with Junior Achievement of Manitoba - an organization that excels at inspiring and educating young Canadians to experience free enterprise, understand business and economics, and develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
A group of high school students within the JA program Company Program: A Student Venture, will meet weekly at Canad Inns Stadium where a Winnipeg Blue Bomber office member or members will mentor them through the process of owning and operating their own business.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will also host a Field Day at the Stadium where Company Program students would rotate through various focus group sessions and provide input into the Winnipeg Blue Bombers business strategy from a youth perspective.
This partnership will allow Junior Achievement of Manitoba and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to steward our Manitoba youth and deliver messages to both our current business mentors and our future business leaders.
The Company Program: A Student Venture inspires high school students to understand the role of business in our society by creating an enterprise of their own. With professional volunteer consultants, they design, organize and operate a real business, experiencing how a small enterprise functions.
Since 1963, with the help of advisors from Manitoba's business community, Junior Achievement has been providing Manitoba's youth practical, first-hand experience regarding financial literacy and free enterprise.
"The Winnipeg Football Club has always valued the youth of our province as evident by our commitment to grassroots football and by putting our players, coaches and mascots into our communities," said Blue Bomber President Jim Bell. "We feel that our youth of today will be the leaders of tomorrow and we feel very privileged to be able to help mentor them."
