
Kernels host Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run this Saturday

Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
May 13, 2009 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels, in conjunction with the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, are pleased to host the Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run competition at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The contest takes place on Saturday, May 16 at 1 pm, with registration beginning at 12:30 pm. The event is FREE of charge and is open to all boys and girls, ages 7-14, and consists of pitching for accuracy, hitting for distance AND accuracy, and running in a sprint from second base to home plate.
Boys and girls will compete against each other in the following age brackets: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14. The kids that finish first in the pitching, hitting and running competition as well as the overall champion will advance to the Sectionals Competition, held in Waterloo on June 6th.
Winners of the Sectionals will advance to the Team Championship Division and then on to the National Finals, that will be held it St. Louis during the week of the MLB All-Star game.
No metal spikes or cleats are allowed. In the event of weather, the event will be held on Sunday, May 17th starting at 1 pm.
