Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce a series of roster moves involving four players. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

Three players are joining the Kernels today from Extended Spring Training in Fort Myers, FL. They are catcher Michael Quesada, outfielder Jeremias Pineda and RHP Josue Montanez as outfielder Romy Jimenez has been assigned to Extended Spring Training.

Montanez appeared in two games for the Kernels in early April, posting a 3.38 ERA in 2.2 IP. The Twins selected Montanez in the 15th round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out of Miami Dade Community College South. He spent 2012 with the GCL Twins where he posted a 2-0 record and 0.36 ERA in eight games (four starts), allowing 13 hits and five runs (one earned) over 25 IP with eight walks and 30 strikeouts.

The Twins selected Quesada in the 24th round of the 2010 First Year Player Draft out of Sierra Junior College. He played in 18 games for Elizabethton in 2012, batting .234 with five doubles and 10 RBI.

The Twins acquired Pineda in a trade with the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Danny Valencia on August 5 and he split time between the GCL Red Sox and GCL Twins last season. He has a minor league career .304 average in 86 games and is a native of Hormigo in the Dominican Republic.

In 21 games for the Kernels, Jimenez went 7-74 (.095) with two doubles and six RBI.

All three incoming players will be active and available for tonight's 6:35 pm game with the Burlington Bees. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with two players currently on the disabled list.
