Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, Texas - Despite an impressive start from Frisco starter Zak Kent, the Frisco RoughRiders fell 3-0 to the Midland RockHounds at Riders Field Wednesday night. Kent (1-2) carried a shutout into the seventh inning before giving up a two-run home run to end the scoreless game and departed with a season-high ten strikeouts.

Midland lefty starter Hogan Harris made his Double-A debut with the RockHounds by throwing 3.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts and three walks allowed. Reliver Zack Plunkett (2-3) kept Frisco hitless in his 2.1 innings to pick up the win.

Prior to the Wednesday loss, the Riders offense hadn't been held off the scoreboard once this season. Frisco threatened to crack the first runs early by loading the bases in the bottom of the first behind consecutive base hits from J.P. Martinez and Jonathan Ornelas. Dustin Harris walked to load the bases before Hogan Harris shut down the final three batters and stranded the bases full.

The RockHounds plated all four of their runs in the top of the seventh on two-run home runs from Jeremy Eierman and Max Schuemann to cement the RockHounds' 4-0 advantage.

The RoughRiders featured a pair of Double-A debuts Wednesday night with relievers Joe Corbett and Josh Smith. Corbett relieved Kent and gave up one run and struck a batter out in 1.1 innings, while Smith tossed a spotless ninth inning with no walks or strikeouts.

The series between Midland and Frisco continues Thursday night with a 7:05 p.m. start time. LHP Avery Weems (1-4, 7.28 ERA) makes his tenth stat of the year Thursday night for Frisco while Midland right-hander Colin Peluse (5-1, 5.87 ERA) opposes the Riders in game three.

Thursday night is another Thirsty Thursday at Riders Field, featuring a Blue Norther Hard Seltzer Rowdy @ The River. $25 gets you into the ballgame between Frisco and Midland, along with Lazy River access, $2 domestic drafts and $2 Blue Norther Hard Seltzers. Thirsty Thursday also includes drink specials around the rest of the ballpark, featuring $3 Yuengling in the seating bowl through the seventh inning.
